Lou Schneider, President of Home Seal Services, Inc. holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Baltimore in Business Administration. He has been involved in the construction industry and building maintenance since 1974. Lou has served as a foreman in construction and remodeling contracting, and as a Maintenance Property Manager overseeing 9 apartment complexes consisting of over 1800 apartment units.
Currently, he is the Housing Rehabilitation Inspection Specialist for the Town of Delmar. An inspector on the Eastern Shore since 1991, he has over 5,000 inspections to his credit. Lou is also a licensed home improvement contractor and a member of and certified by the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) and the International Code Council. Also licensed with the State of Maryland per the state's requirement beginning January 1, 2008 and the State of Delaware per the state's requirement beginning November 1, 2013.
Being employed in the construction business for more than 30 years, my background consists of a variety of positions within the industry ranging from residential and commercial construction to working with electric and pipeline companies. My experience includes, but is not limited to, working with foundations, framing, roofing, flooring, drywall, plumbing and painting. I have has been involved in the construction of over 250 new homes and in over 1500 home and condominium renovations.
Since 2004, I have been employed by Home Seal Services as a Home Inspector and to date, have completed approximately 4,000 inspections. After extensive training and testing, I am an active Member of ASHI, the American Society of Home Inspectors and have been certified as an ACI, an ASHI Certified Home Inspector. The certification was completed by NCCA, the National Commission for Certifying Agencies. I am licensed with the State of Maryland per the state's requirement beginning January 1, 2008 and the State of Delaware per the state's requirement beginning November 1, 2013. I am also certified for Radon Testing by C.E.R.T.I. the Center for Environmental Research and Technology Inc.
At the request of Governor Markell, I was appointed to the Delaware State Board of Directors of Home Inspectors for a term of three years starting in the fall of 2012, and I have been requested to continue my term with the Board through 2018.
